Call forwarding in Canada
Forward the calls you can't take to another number, and keep the ones you can. Pick your mobile carrier for the codes to dial, what it charges, and how to turn it off again.

Two kinds of forwarding
Conditional forwarding sends a call on only when you can't take it: you're on another call, you don't answer, or your phone is off or out of range. Every other call rings as usual. It's the one most businesses want.
Unconditional forwarding sends every call on before your phone rings. That's what the Call Forwarding switch in an iPhone's settings does, which is why these guides use codes instead.
Landline, VoIP or another carrier?
Look for “conditional call forwarding” in your provider's help pages, or call their support line and ask them to forward busy and unanswered calls to the number you want.
Questions
- What are the call forwarding codes in Canada?
- On Rogers, Fido, TELUS, Koodo and Freedom Mobile, dial *67* for busy calls, *61* for unanswered calls and *62* for when your phone is off, each followed by the 10-digit number and #. Bell and Virgin Plus don't publish codes.
- Does call forwarding cost extra in Canada?
- Often, yes. Most carriers bill forwarded calls by the minute unless call forwarding is on your plan: Bell and Virgin Plus charge 25¢ a minute and Koodo 60¢. Freedom Mobile doesn't charge on its network. Each carrier's page has the details.
- Will my phone still ring?
- Yes. Conditional forwarding only steps in when you're busy, don't answer, or your phone is off. Every other call rings as usual.
